When is the best time to photograph my newborn?
The ideal time for a newborn session is within the first 5 to 14 days after birth. During this stage, babies are typically sleepier, curl naturally into those beautiful newborn poses, and are less likely to be disturbed during the session.
When should I book my newborn session?
We recommend booking during your second trimester or early in your third trimester to ensure availability. Your due date will be reserved in our calendar, and the final session date will be confirmed once your baby arrives.
What if my baby has already passed the 14-day mark?
Don't worry. Beautiful newborn portraits can still be created with babies who are several weeks old. We also offer an 'Older Newborn Session' from 8-12 weeks old.
How long does a newborn session last?
Most newborn sessions last between 1-1.5 hours. We allow plenty of time for feeding, changing, cuddling, and settling your baby so the experience remains calm and stress-free.
Where does the session take place?
Sessions can take place in our fully equipped newborn photography studio in Citywest Dublin.
Is newborn photography safe?
Absolutely. Your baby's safety is always our highest priority. Every pose is performed carefully, with your baby's comfort and wellbeing at the forefront. Many images are created using safe posing techniques and, where necessary, composite editing methods.
What should my baby wear?
For most newborn portraits, simple wraps, textured blankets, and carefully chosen accessories create timeless images. Parents don't need to bring special outfits unless there is a particular item they would like included.
Do you provide props and accessories?
Yes. We have a curated collection of wraps, blankets, baskets, headbands, hats, and other newborn accessories available for use during your session.
Can parents and siblings be included?
Of course. Family and sibling portraits are some of the most treasured images from a newborn session. We encourage parents and siblings to take part.
Grandparents can also be included for an additional fee.
What should parents wear?
Neutral colours, soft textures, and simple clothing photograph beautifully and help keep the focus on your connection with your baby. We are happy to provide styling guidance before your session.
What if my baby won't sleep?
There's no need to worry. Every baby is different. We work at your baby's pace and capture a combination of awake and sleepy portraits.
What happens if my baby arrives early or late?
This is completely normal. Because we book based on your due date, we can adjust your session once your baby arrives.
How much does a newborn photography session cost?
Our session packages vary depending on the session type. All pricing is available on our website here.
When will we receive our photographs?
Your gallery is typically ready within 4 to 5 weeks of your session. You will then select your favourite images according to your chosen package.
Are digital images included?
We mainly offer digital images packages at present. We offer print boxes in our 'Full Newborn' Packages.
What if my baby has baby acne, flaky skin, or scratches?
These are all perfectly normal newborn features. Professional retouching is included to gently minimise temporary marks while preserving your baby's natural appearance.
Do you travel to peoples homes?
No I am a studio, Dublin based baby photographer only - my studio in Citywest Dublin, just off the N7.
